Sergio was officially born in Grosseto, but he has always lived on Giglio.
He has a restaurant by the sea where he makes everyone feel at home. He often steps out of the kitchen and checks that the customers are happy with what they are eating and that nothing is missing from the table, but in truth it is an excuse to have a glass of wine and chat with the people sitting there and tell them some story about the Island.
Sergio is never short of a quick comeback, that's for sure.
It's a fantastic island.
For some years now he has been taking care of the kitchen himself; it is an important job and the chef can never be away, as he likes to point out often.
On his arms, covered with tattoos, he carries an archive of his dear friend Maurizio Fercioni, a symbol of maritime culture and of tattooing in Italy and around the world, a tradition born at sea, starting from these coasts more than 50 years ago.
Every day he swims in front of the restaurant; as soon as the service ends, before heading round the back, where he has a small green garden where he keeps the dog. Lying next to the dog, he smokes a cigar and sunbathes, waiting for his wife and daughter to spend the afternoon together before going back to work for the evening service.
